South Carolina takes on Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m. ET Friday, Dec. 30, at the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
Both teams enter Bill Gay Grounds at TIAA Bank Field with identical 8-4 records. The No. 19 South Carolina Gamecocks enter the bowl game after back-to-back Top-10 victories, downing No. 5 Tennessee, 63-38, and No. 7 Clemson, 31-30, while the No. 21 Notre Dame Fighting Irish won five of their final six regular season games.
Notre Dame has won three of the four games played all-time between the two teams.
This will be South Carolina’s fifth trip to the Gator Bowl but first since 1987. The Gamecocks will be seeking their first Gator Bowl victory. Notre Dame is 1-3 in its four Gator Bowl appearances.
The Gator Bowl is operated by Gator Bowl Sports. It has been held continuously since 1946, making it the sixth-oldest college bowl, as well as the first one ever televised nationally.
