UConn, Villanova Advance To BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament Final
Huskies and Wildcats to tip off at 8 p.m. ET on Monday on FS1.
UNCASVILLE, Conn. – The Semifinals of the 2022 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament presented by JEEP saw the top two seeds advance as No. 1 seed Connecticut defeated No. 5 seed Marquette 71-51, before No. 2 seed Villanova knocked off No. 6 seed Seton Hall, 64-55. The Huskies and Wildcats move on to Monday night’s title game, which is slated for an 8 p.m. ET tipoff at Mohegan Sun Arena and will air on FS1. The winner of the BIG EAST Tournament receives the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
The BIG EAST title game will be a 1-2 affair for the fifth-straight year and 19th time overall. UConn will be making its second straight appearance in the BIG EAST final and 24th visit overall. Villanova heads to the title game for the first time since 2003, when it beat UConn 52-48. It marks the Wildcats fifth appearance in the conference final. Villanova dealt UConn its only conference loss of the last nine years on Feb. 9 with a 72-69 win in Hartford.
